These journal chapters of ALIVE! Volume 2 are descriptive of the author's walks outdoors enjoying nature and communing with the Lord whom he loved. Dr. Fowler writes, "The title of this book is spelled with five full capitalized uppercase letters (A-L-I-V-E) followed by a throbbing exclamation point (!) so that it will be read as a celebrational shout, an exultant affirmation upon a silver trumpet. Its title is not simply 'ALIVE!' The word 'alive' is merely a word spoken as a word, nothing more, whereas this book and title ALIVE! are both explosive shouts of joy-a vital joy that is at once exultant and serenely calm. There is a disposition, a healthful state of soul, an attitude toward the allness of life in these pages which is greater than any single insight or described experience in any one chapter. "Glad-to-be-alive is the theme which most occupies this book." Samuel W. Fowler was born November 30, 1934, in Washington, D.C. He trusted Christ as his Savior October 12, 1954. He received his Th.D.from Dallas Theological Seminary and was professor of Bible and Theology for 43 years in several Bible colleges. His unique teaching and preaching style reached many students who are now serving the Lord around the world. He also served as interim pastor and full-time pastor in several churches. Dr. Fowler's previous works Coping Strategies, Meditations on the Glory of God, Afoot and Delighthearted, and ALIVE! Volume 1 have been a blessing to many Christians. Although Dr. Fowler's expertise was in Bible and Theology, he also had a deep love of nature, which inspired him to become a poet. Dr. Fowler was ushered into the presence of His Glory on July 11, 2008.

A radical revaluation of how contemporary society perceives death—and an argument for how it can make us happy. “He who would teach men to die would teach them to live,” writes Montaigne in Essais, and in How to Die: A Book about Being Alive, Ray Robertson takes up the challenge. Though contemporary society avoids the subject and often values the mere continuation of existence over its quality, Robertson argues that the active and intentional consideration of death is neither morbid nor frivolous, but instead essential to our ability to fully value life. How to Die is both an absorbing excursion through some of Western literature’s most compelling works on the subject of death as well as an anecdote-driven argument for cultivating a better understanding of death in the belief that, if we do, we’ll know more about what it means to live a meaningful life.

"English Alive! is a series designed specifically to meet the needs of English students in Caribbean secondary schools. The book covers the key areas of reading comprehension, listening and speaking, writing grammar and language usage and vocabulary development. Particular attention is given to the often challenging area of poetry. The book also covers common errors made by students. A reference section contains verb tables, including a section on tenses (notoriously difficult for learners), irregular verbs and a glossary of language words and literary terms,"--page [4] of cover.

This textbook intends to be a comprehensive and substantially self-contained two-volume book covering performance, reliability, and availability evaluation subjects. The volumes focus on computing systems, although the methods may also be applied to other systems. The first volume covers Chapter 1 to Chapter 14, whose subtitle is ``Performance Modeling and Background". The second volume encompasses Chapter 15 to Chapter 25 and has the subtitle ``Reliability and Availability Modeling, Measuring and Workload, and Lifetime Data Analysis". This text is helpful for computer performance professionals for supporting planning, design, configuring, and tuning the performance, reliability, and availability of computing systems. Such professionals may use these volumes to get acquainted with specific subjects by looking at the particular chapters. Many examples in the textbook on computing systems will help them understand the concepts covered in each chapter. The text may also be helpful for the instructor who teaches performance, reliability, and availability evaluation subjects. Many possible threads could be configured according to the interest of the audience and the duration of the course. Chapter 1 presents a good number of possible courses programs that could be organized using this text. Volume II is composed of the last two parts. Part III examines reliability and availability modeling by covering a set of fundamental notions, definitions, redundancy procedures, and modeling methods such as Reliability Block Diagrams (RBD) and Fault Trees (FT) with the respective evaluation methods, adopts Markov chains, Stochastic Petri nets and even hierarchical and heterogeneous modeling to represent more complex systems. Part IV discusses performance measurements and reliability data analysis. It first depicts some basic measuring mechanisms applied in computer systems, then discusses workload generation. After, we examine failure monitoring and fault injection, and finally, we d

"Rivals the major systematic theologies of this century." --Baptist History and Heritage Journal, July 1996 "One of the characteristics of Garrett's system that needs especially to be noted is its balanced, judicious, and nearly invariably objective presentation of materials. While holding true to the teachings of his own Baptist faith, Garrett so carefully and judiciously presents alternatives . . . that teachers and students from other confessional and denominational positions will find his work instructive." --Consensus, 1997 "If one is searching for an extensive exposition of the biblical foundations and historical developments of the various loci of systematic theology, there is no more complete presentation in a relatively short work than this . . . Pastors will especially find this feature to be a real help in teaching theology . . . [It is] an indispensable contribution to the task of systematic theology." --Journal of the Evangelical Theological Society, September 1999 "Many students and pastors will find all they need here, and will in addition be helped to relate their knowledge to recent developments in the theological world." --The Churchman: A Journal of Anglican Theology, 1991 "A gold mine of helpful material." --The Christian Century, May 29-June 5, 1991 "No book that I know is more loaded with biblical and theological facts than this one. The prodigious research that must have gone into the preparation of this volume is truly mind-boggling." --Faith and Mission, Fall 1991 "Garrett has provided a massive and scholarly systematic theology from a thoroughly conservative and comprehensive viewpoint. The work is well documented in both biblical and historical scholarship and will prove to be a classic." --William Hendrickson, Southern Baptist Theological Seminary "One of the most comprehensive, concise books of its type available; it should receive wide use in the classroom and in the study." --Robert H. Culpepper, Southern Baptist Theological Seminary
