Borrowed Summary:

Enjoy this clean, small town romance by award winning and bestselling author, Lucinda Race. He’s just a borrowed boyfriend. He might also be her true love. Gym owner Kenzie MacLellan has always been the most independent of her sisters. Spunky and self-reliant, she vowed to stay single, just like them. But when her newly married sister passes their grandmother’s enchanted wedding dress to Kenzie, she can’t resist trying it on. What she sees when she looks in the mirror shakes her to her core. Robbie Burns? Childhood buddy, best friend, occasional borrowed boyfriend? That’s the future the dress predicts for her? Robbie Burns has tried for years to pry Kenzie from his heart. She’d never see him as more than her manager at the gym, her camping pal, the guy she borrowed when she needed a date for dinner or the movies. That hasn’t stopped him from being in love with her. But on their annual hiking trip in the White Mountains, Kenzie tumbles. Just not in the way either of them planned. For the first time in her life, an injured Kenzie is forced to lean on someone else for a change. Robbie’s tender care for her, and her growing attraction to him, is setting off all her alarm bells. Robbie would never a change a thing about her, but is Kenzie willing to risk it? Has a borrowed wedding dress really revealed Kenzie’s borrowed boyfriend might be the love of her life? Borrowed is the second novel in the MacLellan Sisters Trilogy, although each book can be read as standalone. A sweet and clean romantic story with a guaranteed happily ever after. Happy reading!

Remade in France Summary:

Remade in France: Anglicisms in the Lexicon and Morphology of French chronicles the current status of French Anglicisms, a popular topic in the history of the French language and a compelling example of the influence of global English. The abundant data come from primary sources-a large online newspaper corpus (for unofficial Anglicisms) and the dictionary (for official Anglicisms)-and secondary sources. This book examines the appearance and behavior of English items in the lexicon and morphology of French, and explains them in the context of French neology and lexical activity. The first phase of the latest contact period (1990-2015) has its own complex linguistic characterization, including a significant influx of nonce borrowings and very low frequency Anglicisms, heterogeneous and creative borrowing outcomes, and direct phraseological borrowing. This book is a counterargument to the well-known criticism that Anglicisms are lexical polluters. On the contrary, the use of Anglicisms requires the inventive application of complex linguistic rules, and the borrowing of Anglicisms into the French lexicon is convincing proof that language change is systematic. The findings bring novel interdisciplinary insights to the domains of borrowing in a non-bilingual contact setting; global English as a source of lexical creativity in the French lexicon; the phases, patterns and processes of integration of English loanwords; the morphology of borrowing; and computational corpus linguistics. The appended database is a snapshot of a synchronic period of linguistic contact and a useful lexicographic resource.

Borrowed Goods Summary:

An exploration of spiritual growth and untapped potential blending personal history, heartfelt insights, biblical analysis, and a great deal of humor. In this inspirational work, Nell Christianson reminds us that everything we possess—our strengths, our intelligence, and our worldly goods—comes directly from God, and if we utilize our talents, our lives will have eternal purpose. She builds much of her discussion around Matthew 25: 14-30, the Parable of the Talents, and challenges us to make good choices and use our gifts and talents wisely. The book speaks of reward and responsibility. Borrowed Goods takes you on a prodigal’s journey aboard a cruise ship called “Earth.” As a passenger you arrive at your final destination to meet a loving God who wants a personal relationship with you. And God, a righteous Judge, requires accountability when you dock on the other shore. “Read this to your benefit. Learn to deal with life without casting blame or excuses. In these pages, you will find yourself on every page—and be pointed to the only One who can get you through, the Lord Jesus Christ.”—Dr. Jimmy & Carol Ann Draper, president emeritus of LifeWay & his wife “One of the best books I have ever read . . . I believe Borrowed Goods will touch the heart of every reader. It will be a wonderful Bible study for small groups. Reading it gave me a new vision for prayer in my life.”—Sandy Weeks, president, Stuffing Strut, Inc.

Get in Trouble Summary:

FINALIST FOR THE PULITZER PRIZE • NATIONAL BESTSELLER • A bewitching story collection from a writer hailed as “the most darkly playful voice in American fiction” (Michael Chabon) and “a national treasure” (Neil Gaiman). NAMED ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS OF THE YEAR BY BookPage • BuzzFeed • Chicago Tribune • Kirkus Reviews • NPR • San Francisco Chronicle • Slate • Time • Toronto Star • The Washington Post She has been hailed by Michael Chabon as “the most darkly playful voice in American fiction” and by Neil Gaiman as “a national treasure.” Now Kelly Link’s eagerly awaited new collection—her first for adult readers in a decade—proves indelibly that this bewitchingly original writer is among the finest we have. Link has won an ardent following for her ability, with each new short story, to take readers deeply into an unforgettable, brilliantly constructed fictional universe. The nine exquisite examples in this collection show her in full command of her formidable powers. In “The Summer People,” a young girl in rural North Carolina serves as uneasy caretaker to the mysterious, never-quite-glimpsed visitors who inhabit the cottage behind her house. In “I Can See Right Through You,” a middle-aged movie star makes a disturbing trip to the Florida swamp where his former on- and off-screen love interest is shooting a ghost-hunting reality show. In “The New Boyfriend,” a suburban slumber party takes an unusual turn, and a teenage friendship is tested, when the spoiled birthday girl opens her big present: a life-size animated doll. Hurricanes, astronauts, evil twins, bootleggers, Ouija boards, iguanas, The Wizard of Oz, superheroes, the Pyramids . . . These are just some of the talismans of an imagination as capacious and as full of wonder as that of any writer today. But as fantastical as these stories can be, they are always grounded by sly humor and an innate generosity of feeling for the frailty—and the hidden strengths
